Back To School Essence Makeup Giveaway!

Screen Shot 2016-08-24 at 1.24.12 PM

Whenever I go back to school I always have to get some back up makeup products to stick in my back pack for the school day! I didn’t want to spend too much money on my makeup survival kit, but I still wanted the products to be high quality. I have heard about Essence and even used their eyeshadows for prom makeup looks, but never really got to try their most popular products!

I wanted to share these products with you all because the fact that they are affordable and high quality blows my mind!

This is the 2 in 1 eyeliner pen. It has a thin and thick felt tip liner which is convenient because you could use it for a more natural look or a glam look! This reminds me of the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.

This is the Make Me Brow. This is an exact dupe for Gimme Brow by Benefit, but way cheaper! I love this product for when I don’t have time to fill them in, I just take the spooly and comb it through my brows and it makes them appear fuller.

This is one of their Liquid Lipsticks! It doesn’t dry to a full matte which I personally like because it is not as drying as a lot of other brands!

Essence is conveniently available for purchase at Target.com and select Target stores nationwide! Essence Cosmetics is known for their high-quality products which average to about $3.50 or less. These products are perfect for restocking your makeup bag just in time to go back to school. From everyday basics to wear to class to on-trend colors to rock at formal, essence has everything you need to make this school year even more beautiful!

Unfortunately, my #HowToSororities series is about to come to an end. I have been getting an amazing responses from this content so I will definitely be continuing this series next fall! I wanted to include a makeup tutorial that is natural but will not melt in the heat of recruitment!

If you already know a lot about makeup and just want to hear some quick recommendations then watch this video!

But if you don’t wear makeup very often or don’t even know where to start, I filmed a full face makeup tutorial to walk you through the steps to achieve a natural look! By natural, I don’t mean a simple routine with BB Cream and mascara, I do use quite a bit of products! If you’re interested in seeing a more in-depth video, click here!

Sorority Recruitment Makeup Tips

Today I am sharing some makeup advice and tips for sorority recruitment!

When I was going through as a PNM, I was worried about my makeup melting off my face and how much I was supposed to wear! I explain all about it in my video!

Mini Beauty Haul

IMG_9913-2

Today I went to CVS and since my mom (the coupon queen) had a 25% off coupon, I decided to get some beauty/ skincare products!

  1. Biore Baking Soda Liquid Pore Cleanser: I got a sample of this inside of a magazine and when I used it, I decided I would get it when my current cleanser ran out. Of course, I couldn’t wait so I went ahead an purchased it!
  2. L’Oreal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Blush in Apricot KissI have been using the same blush, Nars Outlaw, for too long now, that I felt that it was time to switch it up. I have been dying to get my hands on a color like this for a natural but colorful look.
  3. Maybelline Lash Sensational MascaraThis mascara has been one of my go-to’s lately, along side the Rocket Volume Mascara. But unfortunately there comes a time when the mascara just does not perform as well as it did when you first purchased it, and that time has come. I decided to repurchase this gem because I am a big fan of the curved mascara brush!
  4. Milani Baked Bronzer in SoleilThis product has been all over my Pinterest feed lately, and I must say, it is a very picturesque! Besides that, I wanted to give this a try because of all of the great things I have heard about it. Everyday I attempt to bring out my inner sun goddess look, so hopefully this bronzer can make that happen!

That is all I got at CVS, but I thought I would share these products since I was not going to do a main video talking about them, but keep your eyes peeled for a tutorial featuring these goodies. Have you caught up on my videos? Head on over to Sonarly Life after you watch what I have been loving this past May!

The Perfect Nude Lip Combination | Bite Beauty & NYX

Nude matte lipstick combination

IMG_9363-2 IMG_9385-2

Today I wanted to share my new favorite nude lip combination!

I have used two products:

  1. First I apply the NYX Cosmetics Full Throttle Lipstick in Kiss the Dust. I can rave about this product forever, but I’ll keep it short for your sake. This lipstick is a matte product, but feels as smooth as chapstick when you apply it on your lips. When it’s on your lips, it does not feel dry at all, but looks matte.
  2. Then I take my Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Honey Berry and apply it mostly on the inner parts of my lips. This gives it an ombre look! I really like this product as well because it is very moisturizing while giving a lot of color.

Do you have a favorite nude lip product/ combination? Comment and let me know what they are!

NEVER Buy an Eyeshadow Palette Again!

IMG_4622

Have you ever bought an eyeshadow palette with 12 colors that costed $50, but you really only use three of the colors? Trust me, I have. I have been such a fan of Z-palette’s and companies that make single pot eyeshadows. If you don’t know what a Z-palette is, it is a magnetic palette that you can put single magnetic shadows in!

There are many pricey companies such as Mac and Anastasia Beverly Hills, but there are also very affordable companies such as Makeup Geek, Colourpop, and Morphe.

Makeup Geek has eyeshadow pans that are stored in a Z-palette. This is my all time favorite eyeshadow brand! Their eyeshadows are the easiest to blend out of all of these three companies, and the convenience of putting them in a Z-palette is a definite plus! Their regular pan shadows are $6.00 each and their foiled shadows (which I highly recommend) are $10.00! This is the most expensive of all three, but it is definitely the best quality and cheaper than MAC!

Colourpop has blown up this past year and I just had to try their products out! They’re most known for their liquid lipsticks, but their eyeshadows are also amazing! The one con about these eyeshadows is that it doesn’t fit in a z-palette and it is not magnetic. I have a lot of colors and I never know which ones I want to use so I have to lug around all of the individual eyeshadows. But the quality of these shadows are extremely creamy which makes it very different from most. The price of these eyeshadows are $5.00 each; you could buy 10 shadows that you will actually use instead of buying a $50 dollar palette of two colors you would use! I recently did a swatch video on the Colourpop shadows that I have; click here to watch!

Lastly, Morphe is a company that sells $2.29 magnetic eyeshadow pans. You may be surprised at this price because I was at first, but understand that you definitely get what you pay for. I personally would recommend this company last just because the shadows are not as easy to blend and the pigmentation is not the best, but they do the job! I have seen so many swatches on Youtube and they look amazing, but every time I use this palette, it doesn’t give me the same color pay off as others.

Do yourself a favor and do not get sucked into buying the gorgeous palettes and save yourself some money by buying individual shadows!

I also just uploaded this video where I used a mixture of both Makeup Geek shadows and Colourpop shadows!

How To Mix Warm and Cool Toned Eyeshadows

IMG_2129

New Years Eve is such a fun holiday, but when it comes to doing my makeup for it, I always dread it! The reason is because I always end up having a silver or cool toned outfit so I have to go out of my gold/ warm toned comfort zone. BUT GOOD NEWS. I have been wanting to try to mix tones for awhile and I finally did it and I  love it!

I always related silver lid shadow with middle school aka when I did not know how to do makeup lol! But I have some tips to share that will not make it look tacky; I will walk you through how I did mine!

IMG_2156

1. Apply an eyeshadow primer with a shader brush or your fingers; I use Mac’s Paint Pot in the color Layin’ Low

2. Take your lightest warm toned transition color and apply it with a large pencil brush into your crease; my all time favorite color is Creme Brûlée from Makeup Geek

3. Then take a darker warm toned color and apply that with the same pencil brush, but this time focus it more on the outside half of your crease; Makeup Geek’s Cocoa Bear is perfect for this!

4. Now we are ready to go to the dark side, apply a black eyeshadow on your lid with a shader brush; Corrupt by Makeup Geek is a very pigmented black!

5. Now apply a glitter primer to help your glitter stay on longer; I applied Glitter Guard from Sephora.

6. Finally for the eyeshadow, apply your glitter with a small shader brush; I used Indulgence from Mica Beauty.

7. Then apply dark liner! I do recommend winging it out with a dramatic look, but if you’re not able to, just line your lash line!

8. Apply mascara or falsies! Again, since this is a darker look you should apply a bunch of coats of mascara to compensate if you are not going to apply falsies!

And that is it!! I do recommend doing your eyes before doing your foundation because darker colors usually have fallout! And don’t forget the biggest tip is to BLEND, this will take awhile so be patient!

If you guys are visual learners, I made a video on this look so check it out here!

A Few of My October Favorites

IMG_0405-2

I have been loving these products recently, so I thought I would do a wrap up of some of my October Favorites! Also check out my latest blog post about #ShareLove!
IMG_0413-2
So first off is my newest mascara! This Lash Extensions Kit is from Physicians Formula. I first applied the mascara and then went in with the extensions and applied more of the mascara on top. I personally thought the extensions were super weird at first because it’s like you’re putting minuscule pieces of fur onto your lashes, but it made such a big difference!! I actually did a mini review in one of my latest makeup looks so check it out! This product was $15.00 and I think it was very reasonable considering it was lengthening and volumizing all in one!

IMG_0426-2I can not get over this product. This is the Becca Blotting Powder Perfector and it costs $38.00. Obviously it is a little pricey, BUT IT IS FABULOUS! I apply this powder right after I put on my foundation. This makes my skin feel baby butt smooth and it also sets my foundation quicker, instead of waiting for it to dry. After I contour and highlight, I usually go back in with this powder, but this time only putting it on the places I highlighted. Putting this right under the contour of the cheek bones makes it look much more sharp! If you were just going for a natural makeup look that day, I would opt out of the highlight and just set your foundation. I also think this is such a sleek and compact product to put in your purse to touch up and stay matte through out the day!

IMG_0431-2Last but definitely not least, is the NYX Wonder Stick. This product is $12.00 and I think it is underrated! I usually only use the contour side and apply this to the hollows of my cheeks, under my chin, and around the top of my forehead. I don’t use this to contour my nose just because the applicator is very large, so it is hard to apply to such a precise and small area. This product can either be used in a natural or glam look; it is easily buildable and thats what I love about it! When I am going for a natural look, I will do one layer everywhere, but for a glam look, I will add a couple of more layers by going back into the hollows of my cheeks but stopping about where the tail of eyebrow is. This gives my contour a more ombre and natural, but glam, look!
