Get Ready With Me Formal | Prom Makeup Tutorial

Hey guys! It is Prom and Formal season and I’m excited to shared a makeup tutorial perfect for these events! In the past, my prom makeup tutorials have been the most viewed videos on my channel so I thought it was only fitting to make another one since you all loved the others! As the years go on, my makeup techniques get better and better so it is really interesting to see the differences in the past videos (Prom 2014 Video, Prom 2015 Video).

This year I have linked all the products so that it is super easy for you all to achieve this look!

This weekend I attended my uncle’s wedding in Houston, TX! On Friday they had a traditional Sikh ceremony and then on Saturday they had a Catholic wedding and a reception after it. The reception was held at Silver Street Studios, it was a warehouse in the middle of nowhere, but had the most amazing view of the skyline! Unfortunately I did not take many pictures of the place, but I did want to share some of these pictures over those days. I always feel like an Indian princess when I am able to dress up! We got both of my outfits in India when I went two years ago.

Freshmen Year Reflection

I am finally done with my first year of college at the University of Central Florida! At first I thought of Summer B as summer camp just to ease my mind of moving to a different state, but once fall classes started I felt extremely homesick. I didn’t think I would have ended up liking UCF as much as I do now. I owe it all to my sorority, Kappa Delta, for providing me with opportunities to meet amazing people and build friendships. I joined my fall semester, but didn’t really find my place until this spring, but that was all my fault. This year, my friend and I made our New Years Resolution to go to as many events and meet as many people as possible. We did a pretty damn good job and kept our promise. Surrounding myself with my sisters and friends and exploring Orlando is what pulled me out of my “homesick funk”.

Moving to Florida was something that I have always dreaded and it still hasn’t hit me that I live in the sunshine state, but I am so fortunate that I was able to go out of state for college because it has made me the independent person that I never thought I would become. I don’t have my mom and dad around to baby me anymore, I had to take steps (a lot of steps) into the real world, by myself. I knew no one moving to Orlando, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way because I was able to make this place my own.

Cozy Things You Need In Your Life!

With winter coming up, all I want to do is snuggle up by the fire with some warm apple cider, but unfortunately I have to get through finals first. Ever since I moved to Orlando, I have missed Atlanta’s cold weather more than I thought I would! I wanted to tell you guys about some of my new cozy faves and be sure to click the teal highlighted words because I will be linking the products so that they are easy to find for you all!

So of course, we gotta have our fuzzy/ knit socks! I am obsessing over crew neck socks that peep out of short booties! These knit ones are from American Eagle and they are on sale!! These make great stocking stuffers as well, so maybe this year instead of getting the same old aloe vera fuzzy socks, give these a try!

I love ear warmer headbands! Not only do they keep you nice and warm, but they had so much to an outfit! You can find some embellished and plain ones at Forever 21! I usually like to go for the plain knit ones so that they can match with more!

Bralettes are perfect for the winter because who wants to wear a real bra anyway? Sometimes for me, my problem is that boobs are too big so I need a lot of support, but since it’s the season for chunky sweaters, I can get away with wearing bralettes! I also wanted to share my new favorite line of shirts! THE SOFT AND SEXY LINE AT AMERICAN EAGLE IS LIFE!!! Please, go to your local American Eagle and just feel the soft and sexy shirts, it is the epitome of a comfy shirt! I was lucky enough to find this particular one at Plato’s Closet for half the price, but recently stalked up some more this Black Friday!

This has got to be my favorite thing that I bought this Black Friday because I have been searching for a black cardigan since the beginning of this semester! I unfortunately lost my favorite one in the transition of moving into my apartment, but I finally found this bad boy at Urban Outfitters! Now usually, I don’t even like to go in the store because it’s just torture to look at cute clothes that are out of my price range, but I have been eyeing a cardigan from there and on Black Friday it was on sale for $40 instead of $60! I know I will wear this almost everyday so I splurged!

IMG_0981-2I have recently fallen in love with Anthropology! I remember thinking it was an “old lady” store, but I guess I have gotten old enough to love it haha! Obviously the clothes are ridiculously expensive, but the trinkets and home goods are pretty affordable! I picked up this beautiful candle in the scent Capri Blue; it is a refreshing fruity smell!

The last thing is beautiful Instagrammable mug! Yup… I said it! Who doesn’t want to be able to take a cute picture with their adorable mug by the fire!? This was only $10 at Anthropology!! It would be great to give your friends for the holidays because it is personal and cute!

I hope you all got some ideas of some things to gift your friends and/ or yourself for the holidays! Good luck to all the students getting ready to take their finals and to all the working people, the holidays will be here as soon as we know it!

Game Day Makeup

IMG_9939 (2)

On September 3rd I went to my first college football game! I have never gone to any other school’s games just because I have always thought if I go to a game, I would fall in love with the school and then I would have to worry about whether I would get into the school. I never wanted to get my hopes up so I always stayed away from college stuff before I found out where I was going. On this day I also went to my first tailgate which was fun but at the same time a little bit awkward, just because I was so new to it all! I honestly hate football though so when it was time to actually to go into the game I was DREADING it. I do not know what’s going on ever (even though I was cheerleader for 7 years…). Over all it was an exhausting day full of sweat and more sweat.

I figured I would actually try and do my makeup for this day since I never have an excuse to! I did a makeup tutorial incorporating my school’s colors: black and gold!

A Day In My Life: Athens and Filming with Cait Marie

I wore the dress I got at Encore to Brielle’s Grad Festival! ^^

I had the pleasure of working with the fabulous Cait Marie of Articles of Clothing Blog! I filmed and edited a video for her of her 3 easy summer hairstyles! Not only did I get to do what I love, but I also got to explore the classic city of Athens, Georgia! As y’all may know I am from Georgia, a suburb close to Atlanta and many of my friends are going to college in Athens so when Cait asked me to come film at her favorite hair salon, DM3, I wanted to make a trip out of it!

First we went to, Ike and Jane, a donut shop! I got a yummy coconut & caramel donut! For some reason I have been super obsessed with coconut lately! Then we went to some boutiques and consignment stores and of course the prices were pretty high on most of the clothing items and jewelry so my instinct was to head straight to the sale rack! I actually found a bright yellow dress for 10 bucks on the sale rack in a store called Encore! That’s my kinda price (; I thought this would be a cute dress to wear for game days for college; except my colors are gold and black but yellow can pass for gold too, right?

We then went to Pauley’s Crepe Bar where I got a falafel crepe; I felt super healthy haha and it was good too! But the best part of course was dessert, we got the smores crepe and it was delish! After we got done eating we went over to Salon DM3 to start shooting! I got set up and we were rolling! Check out the video here. And go give Cait’s blog a look too! Comment that I sent you!

I Got A New Car!!

IMG_8397IMG_8392All I can say is, “FINALLY!” I have been driving my dad’s hand me down car, which I really can’t complain because I was driving a Mercedes CLK 430, but it was a 2001 or something like that so it had problems stalling and all that jazz. I loved that car though it was a convertible and super cute, but since I am moving to Orlando, I couldn’t have a car that stalls on me! I definitely did not want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere! So we decided we needed to get a car for me!

We have been searching for awhile. At first my heart was set on the Honda CRV 2015, then it was the Kia Sportage 2015 and we were so close to getting it, but we decided to look some more, and thank goodness we waited. My dad kept telling me “Good things come to those who wait.”

Today I woke up by my mom yelling “Sonali! Come look at this car online!” I walked into my dad’s office and he said “we have an appointment at 12 be ready”. We went and we saw it, I loved it, and we got it. Sounds simple and fast right? It wasn’t… The whole process took about 4 or more hours and right now I have a big head ache, but it was definitely worth it!

I got a Cadillac SRX 2012. It has navigation, a panoramic sunroof, bluetooth, push to start, I mean it has EVERYTHING that I wanted! The only thing that sucked was that the previous owner was a heavy smoker so they tried to get the smell out and it helped.. a little. I just hope no one hops in my car and thinks I’m a smoker lol! I am so grateful for my car! Next step is to name it!

Ariana Grande Concert

First of all, I apologize for the crappy pictures… but Phillips Aren doesn’t allow DSLR cameras, but…This Tuesday night, March 24th, I went to an Ariana Grande concert! It was so much fun! The night before my friend asked me if I wanted to go and of course I said yes! AG is my spirit animal! The only reason that I  didn’t already have tickets was because at the time they were first being sold, I didn’t want to spend the money, but I yoloed because I knew it would be a blast. So when we got there we got to our FLOOR SEATS. Yup. I was super close to the queen herself! Cashmere Cat opened up for the opener and he was pretty good, his beats were awesome! His hair was wack though it looked like thin cotton candy that was flowing in the wind. Then Rixton came on and Jake Roche the lead singer was such a cutie! He was such a good performer too! My friend Annie and I had an aisle seat and Jake came running through our aisle and he stood up on my seat!! So i touched him and I was pretty starstruck! The guy next to us brought his son because apparently when the tickets came out he loved Ariana but it kind of weared off. We were talking to them for a while and the dad bought us cotton candy! Then Ariana Grande came out and she was so cute and tiny! Her outfits were adorable I wish I had sparkly outfits like hers! After the concert we took an Uber home! I was glad we got to do this because I have always wanted to try it out! I had the app but didn’t have an account and I barely had service so it took a while to make the account and it was kind of confusing how to actually get an Uber so it took us 20 minutes to actually find the guy. He ended up being super nice! I will definitely be using it more!

Senior Prom Night

March 14th was very hectic. It was my very last high school dance! I got ready (check my youtube channel for my Get Ready With Me video) and then I had my date come to my house to snap a few pictures so we could be sure we wouldn’t have photo bombers in our pictures. Plus I have a really awesome white wall on my deck so I thought we could use that like our own little studio! Then we went to a country club and took pictures infront of the club house and near the golf course. I was pretty happy with the way the club house looked, I was a bit skeptical taking them on a golf course at first but we had many backdrops to choose from! We then headed to dinner. We went to Prime in Lenox Mall. The view was beautiful. It was on the top floor of the mall and at the end of the mall so we had a big window viewing the city outside! The food was good, but I asked for a medium steak and they gave me a well done steak. I hated to be THAT girl, but I sent it back because it was 32 bucks! By the time my table got their food almost everyone else was finished and I didn’t want to wait for them to make me another steak, so I told them that they could just give me the fries and a discount. The manager came out 10 minutes later with a full plate of steak and fries and told me that it was on the house! I was so relieved that they were so understanding about it. But it kinda sucked because I had to pack it up and I ate it in the car while we were on our way to the dance. The dance was pretty much the same decorations as last year, except this year was a Moroccan Night so they had really cool arabian looking tents! But the DJ looked like my math teacher… and I don’t like my math teacher very much. Overall Prom was pretty great! But a little over rated to be honest, but my favorite part about big events is getting ready and feeling like a princess!
